The elegant Royal Hawaiian is a landmark hotel, which sits on one of the few private beaches on Waikiki. This turreted pink stucco hotel, opened in 1927, is known as the "Pink Palace". The hotel's roped off private beach provides boating, and surfing. The Royal Hawaiian offers Waikiki's only beach luau, including the music and dancing of The Royal Polynesian Extravaganza. The beachfront Mai Tai Bar is reputed to have invented the tropical drink of the same name. Guests can be pampered at the Abhasa Spa, a full service spa that truly embraces the hotel's gardens or lounge in the sun at the Royal Beachside Café.
